I just installed a new game on my pc. I tried to play the game and as soon as I run it the screen goes black with the message monitor out of frequency range. I cannot see anything but this screen but can hear the game. Obviously I am unable to play it. I can get out of this by pressing ctrl, alt and delete but I do not know how to fix this problem. Again it only does this when I try to run this new game I installed today. Help> I have windows xp.

I believe that message is coming from the monitor and not the game or windows itself. It sounds like the game changes the resolution or horizontal frequency of the monitor to somthing it can't handle. Have you checked the game documentation to see if it's compatible with your monitor? If it's compatible it may help to to go 'display properties' and make the change before running the game.
Upgrading the video drivers may help too.

What kind of monitor do you have - CRT or LCD ("flat screen")? When you exit the game, does your screen image return to normal? Usually the LCD screens are more picky about running at their native resolutions, and if your new game changed the settings as DAVEINCAPS suggested, that could explain the problem.
