Monitor doesn't work

March 27, 2010 at 12:23:17
Specs: Windows XP
When I start my computer, the screen won't show anything. The green light beside the monitor power button just blinks every 1.5 seconds. I'm pretty sure that everything else is working besides the monitor. Please help!!!

Usually when you get no video, there's nothing wrong with your monitor or your video adapter - something else is wrong.

"The green light beside the monitor power button just blinks every 1.5 seconds."

That indicates the monitor is not getting a video signal from the computer.
If you have a desktop computer and/or an external monitor, you could try the monitor with another computer, but there's probably nothing wrong with it.

If you have not changed the display drivers recently, and if you have not changed which video port the monitor is connected to, and have added a video adapter since you last had normal video, your problem cannot be caused by video drivers or monitor drivers problems, and in any case, if there were nothing else wrong, you should always have video while booting at least until Windows is supposed to load.

There is probably a hardware problem with the PC. It might be best to ask one of your parents to help you.

So do they have to buy something for the computer or do they just have to do a few things, and does a very dirty computer, and I mean like piles and piles of dust have anything to do with the problem?
