Have a new Monitor (ready to connect) with both a DVi and an Analogue connection.Present Monitor is a conventional CRT.
At present I use an Analogue KVM switch box for both of my computers. Is there much of a visible discernable difference between Analogue or Digital. The cost of changing to a digital KVM switch is rather expensive.

IMO there isn't much if any perceptable difference. In addition to the KVM you may need to buy a DVI cable. Of course your graphics card needs to have a DVI port.

Both comp's graphic cards have DVi and analogue connectors as has the Monitor. It may be possible to connect analogue to secondary comp and also DVi to the other comp cutting out the KVM altogether, (thats a new thought!!! as I type this). I never use both comps at the same time.
Also have a 'quite' expensive DVi cable. Bought, with a 'rush of blood' to the head, type of purchase. As already stated KVM digital switches are very expensive. From what I have seen, it would actually cheaper to buy another LCD Monitor, only trouble is more desk clutter. Thanks for reply/replies.

Well, if you already have the connection and the cable why not see for yourself. Connect it up without the KVM switch and have a look.

If teh monitor is an analog monitor then it won't make a differencee it is simply an alternate way to connect it.

If the monitor is a digital monitor then that is altogether different.

Have already connected with the DVI cable.
Want to be able to use other computer without removing the DVI cable. As stated Monitor has two connectors one analogue, one DVI. My post was for advice and the additional thought of connecting the analogue as well, did not want to incur a mishap.

Have now connected Benq Monitor (which has analogue and DVI connectors)with one analogue cable and one DVI cable to separate computers. Works OK, although I am not going to run both together.
That was my initial query,as this setup now works this eliminates the need to buy an expensive! KVM switch box.
