Monitor detection problem

September 25, 2010 at 00:44:12
Specs: Windows 7, i7

I have a Samsung LCD monitor P2370G and it is having problem detecting my computer sometimes during bootup. It is connected via DVI cable.

Approx in 10 bootups, monitor will detect my computer 3 times. Once it is detected, the monitor will work fine until I power down my computer again.

I have tried other monitors such as my 52" Sony TV using HDMI cable and it works 100% perfect so I think it is not my graphic card.

So it is either the monitor or the DVI cable failing. Is it worth buying a new DVI cable before I take the monitor in for service? or could there be any other problem?

Please advise, thanks in advance!

Maybe you can borrow a cable from one of your buddies just to try it. Try a vga cable on the monitor too. If both connections fail, it's a faulty monitor.

Thanks grasshopper, I bought a DVI cable last night and still got the problem.

However, it seems like the video card was the problem. After updating the firmware both on the video card and motherboard, everything is working properly now.

My video card is a Gigabyte GTX 260 Model: GV-N260C-896I

But now there's a new problem, my Sony 52" is display 1 and Samsung LCD monitor is display 2. I am using windows 7 so when I press Windows Key + P my LCD monitor is shown as the Projector and TV as Computer.

Is there a way to make my LCD monitor as Display 1? Thanks

Control Panel / Display / Settings. Change the order of the displays.

Monitor and TV problem?

OK, what I want to do is have my monitor extended onto my TV. But my TV doesn't have an SVIDEO port. But the video card (Gforce 7600gt) came with a svideo to RCA adapter. So I plugged that in to a RCA leading to the TV. Well the computer doesn't see the TV. So I put on Force TV detection. Still nothing. So I activated the TV for M/NTSC at 640X480 acting as my second moniter. Still....Nothing. Whats weird is the computer is acting like there are two moniters because I can drag the cursor and windows to where the second moniter should be. Any ideas on whats going on? I think it is sending out a signal but somthings not working right. help...
