Hi,

I've been having this problem where the brightness on my monitor changes from a more flat looking to a crisp normal brightness. This seems to fluctuate every couple of minutes or so, and is gradual. If I shut off my monitor and turn it back on the brightness is restored to the nice crisp one.

I have a Philips 107T LightFrame 2 monitor and a ATI Radeon 8500 video card. The video card has the latest drivers, not sure about the monitor.

Is this a sign my monitor is dying?

hi,

i used to have the similar problem as yours which happened to a mag monitor. its cable connection needs to be tilt to certain angle to get bright crisp picture. try tilting the monitor cable(near vga connection) to different angle.(upward, downward, left, right..etc.)

next, if your monitor comes with drive, try to install it. its unlikely to be the cause but no harm doing so.

another possibility is that the monitor is going bad. BTW, how old is it?

The monitor is 3 years old... Could it already be on it's way to dying?

The plug you mean is the one on the back of the PC or the one I plug in my video card?

what is mean was the monitor-to-vga cable. (15-pin adapter connect to vga)

most monitor come with 2-3 years warranty. do a quick check if it is still valid.
