Hello,
I bought a new 42 inch flat plasma tv. i want to be able to hook this up to my computer so that i can do the following
1) use both my tv screen and monitor at the same time so they both display what the computer is showing
2) Watch tv and use my computer screen independantly
3) watch a film from my computer on the TV
is ther a way in which i can do this? how would i switch between the two? do i need some sort of switch?
Thanks,

Thank you for this information, the TV have a VGA port so what i did was but a Male to Male VGA cable and plug it into my TV and into one of the ports my Graphics card, the problem is now that when i but the computer on, the TV displays the Screen fully but on my monitor (Acer 15") i only get a small picture, no start bar, no icons, but when i move my mouse around i can see it. i think its only picking up the centre of whats on the Big 42" tv.
i have a Radeon 9600 graphics card, any ideas how to resolve this issue please?

As I said, see this, e.g. for info about the limits you may encounter:
http://www.computing.net/hardware/w...And
- you need to CLONE the displays in your Catalyst settings (in Display - Settings - Advanced, or in the Catalyst settings in Programs) in order for the displays to be identical.
- the TV in monitor mode probably cannot display all the resolutions the monitor can - you may need to set the monitor to a different resolution when both displays are enabled.
- if you change the resolution you may need to adjust the size of the display on the monitor using settings on the monitor itself, or settings in the Catalyst software.
- the resolution on the widescreen monitor will look the best if you use one that has the same or a similar width to height ratio as the monitor was designed for (e.g. 16:9). If you use a resolution that is a standard ratio, the widescreen display will look stretched, or will have large black bands at the edges where nothing is displayed.
Everything assumes you have installed the software and apps for the 9600 card correctly.
If you installed the drivers and associated apps using the install (Setup) program on the CD that came with the card, the software is installed correctly.
If you used updated software and installed the different pieces in the wrong order, or you already had previous software installed for the card and you didn't un-install previous drivers and apps before you installed updated versions, the software won't work correctly.
If you used updated software, whether or not you already had previous software installed for the card, what you need to do to install the drivers and apps or update the drivers and apps properly is referred to via a link at the top of the same page you get the drivers/apps on the ATI/AMD web site. Also, when first installing the card, or after having removed previous drivers for the same card, when the computer boots and Windows finds the card and finds no drivers for it and wants you to tell it where the drivers are located, CANCEL that, and continue on and let the desktop load, then use the install (Setup) program on the CD that came with the card, or the Setup in the drivers/apps you downloaded, in the right order (if you don't see Setup they probably run Setup automatically by running the *.exe file). The software WILL NOT install properly if you tell Windows where the drivers are located while booting if it doesn't find drivers at that point!
