Hi all, with my computer i have an external Swann Flash modem. In the BIOS of my GA-7VT600 i have 'modem ring on' enabled and the computer only turns on, on the odd occasion, it doesn't always boot up when you turn the modem on. It's not a huge worry, just wondering why it doesn't power up from the modem all the time? I have to turn on my dial up modem before turning on the computer with XP Pro otherwise the computer will think the modem isn't there - some XP thing, if i downloaded all the updates it would probably resolve that issue but i'm not worried about that problem.

Thanks for your time,

Daniel

The feature isn't you think it is. Maybe it is but your wording of it is confusing.
I presume you mean Wake on Ring, its a feature that turns on your computer automatically when someone calls the phoneline that the modem is connected to.

Hi, yes i see what you mean about my 'wording' of the situation. I do know about the true modem ring on feature, when the phone rings on the same line that the modem is on, the modem will start the computer. As soon as i posted this message i noticed that i had not worded it well enough, sorry guys, i didn't have time to repost as i was busy. I'm still confused myself as to why the computer still turns on when you turn the modem on, but only occasionaly.

Daniel
