After installing a new Software Modem it shows up in the Device Manager with no Question- or any other Marks. It also shows up nicely under MODEM.Driver has been installed twice. However, by clicking on the DIAGNOSTICS Tab the following Error Message comes up: "Modem failed to respond. If it is an Internal Modem, verify that the Interupt for the Port is properly set". How and Where do I verify that? Thanks in advance.

This is not a problem with the phone line. It sounds as if you have installed the wrong driver. Uninstall the modem, and reinstall it using the installation program on the CD, not the windows find driver wizard. (or if you used the program on the cd, use the windows driver search wizard)

Thanks again. It is a new COMPUSA Modem. It seems the Computer (or Windows) did not assign the correct IRQ. I took out all the other PCI Cards and I was Online in no time. What could have caused this malfunction?
