I recently installed Windows XP Pro over Windows ME. I have encountered only one problem, I can not access the internet through my dial-up modem. I have looked on the internet for the new drivers, but since i do not know the name of the modem (in device manager it says that my PCI modem is a unknown object.) It is a Dell Inspiron 4100 laptop. I have looked on the Dell Website and have numerous choices for the drivers (11 choices) PLEASE HELP!
There are three modem model. In my opinion try 1-conexant, if not 2-Pctel mdc and the last dell truemobile

It would not be the Truemobile since that is the wireless adapter. Try this page first http://support.dell.com/FileLib/Type.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&Category=20&OS=WW1&OSL=EN&SvcTag=&SysID=INS_PNT_P3C_4100&DeviceID=1147 and this one if the first didn't work http://support.dell.com/FileLib/Type.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&Category=20&OS=WW1&OSL=EN&SvcTag=&SysID=INS_PNT_P3C_4100&DeviceID=1058 One of them will be the one you want. Good luck
