Modem dialing sound

OS: Windows 98 SE
CPU/Ram: Intel Celeron 433 Mhz 320

My modem sounds like a rotary phone when it dials.It usually sounds like touch tone but not this time.How do i change this?Its a Zoom Modem but i don't think the model has anyhting to do with how to change it.

Go to the Control Panel/Modems/General/Dialing Properties/

m's advice above is good, but if does not cure suggest checking what application is controlling the modem.

It is possible the dialling process has been set up to dial pulse (the old method) rather than tone.
