i have USR INT FAXMODEM on INTEL X925 mobo with 3.2Ghz.

when i try to connect it makes loud modem sounds and is unable to connect.

sometime it connects at slow rates 12-28kbps and the connection is broken in 5 minutes or sometimes maximum 1 HR.

i have changed the pin,the phone line,the modem,installed drivers.

i installed USR control center but it was unable to find the modem.

is the modem compatible with the system ,if not sugest.

Keep it simple and maybe check the phone line with a good known working phone and listen for any clicks or static, you may want to look for a loose connection and maybe change out the cord from the modem to the phone jack...seems at first the modem is OK and maybe the problem is on the line, what was the fastest you have seen this work where it is now?

Keep the old stuff running

as said above, check the phonelines out first.
Too main devices connected to a phoneline can also rob signal strength from a phoneline.
Last of all it could be a defective modem. They are cheap now.. like $15 or less.

This is the reason i went to cable. No bad or lost connections and downloads at like 500kps.
