i just put together this system and i have built many of them. i was having probs w/ the AGP Vid card. I pulled it out and put in a PCI card. when i went to turn it bak on. Nothing, no fans on the mobo, no lights, no nothing. the PS did not even turn on. I put the AGP card back in and nothing. i replaced the PS and checked all the connections. still nothing. I am just wondering if the MObo is fried or the CPU. i sorted the pins on the switch to make sure that was not it, and I still got nothing.

Probably the board. CPU's (at least my experience with Intels)are generally pretty hearty.

Try clearing the CMOS for the heck of it.

i just tried yer suggestion, still dead in the water. I was under the impression it was the MOBO to.
question, if the PS was putting out 1 volt high on the connections, would that can it pretty quick. this system ran for about 3 hours. i had the PS checked at Best buy and they sed it was a volt high on the 5 V side. im going to check this 2day myself after I get bak from radio shack.

I would guess (GUESS) that there is a certain amount of fault tolerance built into the board like any other electronic device.

In other words a little voltage more or less should not hurt it.

generally, the tolerance is 10% + or -, so +1 volt would be outta spec

I just put a small load (2.5 watts) on the PS and turned it on and checked all the voltages. everything is appears to be ok.

I then checked another PS and they both had the same numbers.

so now im going to say it is the Mobo.
any other suggestions are appreciated.
