Recently bought new PC (AMD 3200)

Found out it has ONLY 1 IDE outlet.
Previously i ran 1 x HDD master and 1 x HHD Slave.
As well as a DVDRW on the 2nd IDE outlet.

The new MO only has 1 IDE outlet, but has 2 x SATA plugs.

I have a IDE and SATA Convertor plug c/w power adapter.

So i plugged in the master IDE and the DVDRW as the slave IDE.

Then i plugged the 2nd HDD as a storage drive.
BUT i cannot get the drive to show up or be recognised.
I get a small green light on the back of the SATA adapter to the IDE pins on the HDD back, but that is it.

Is there anything else i need to do to get a SATA drive to be recognised ?

I tried using the DVDRW as the SATA drive, but it was the same.

What can i do to get the 2 x HDD and 1 x DVDRW to all work on the MO.
The MO is a GeForce6100SM-M ?

When installing WinXP did you also install the drivers, including the SATA, from the MBoard CD?

Look in disk management, which can be accessed by right clicking My computer> manage> storage> disk management.

If you see your drive there you may need to take ownership of the folders. Look at the link below to see how.

You also need to verify the SATA controllers are Enabled in the BIOS.

You should have paid more attention to the board specs. *Most* boards are coming with just one IDE channel these days. The money you saved by buying a budget board can now be spent on a PCI/IDE controller card.

If you mean select F6 to install Raid drivers No i did not hit F6.

Do i need to completely re-install Xp to do this now?

I get no HDD in Disk Management either.

No matter what i do i cannot seem to get the PC to pick up the SATA drive.

Frustration plus....
