I recently upgraded a computer from windows xp to windows 7. i need to download a multimedia audio controller so that i get sound output. how can i tell which controller to download and install when the computer has absolutely no vendor or model written on it. i went to device manager and got as much information as i could for the device driver as follows:

Description: Multimedia Audio Controller
Physical Object Name: \Device\NTPNP_PCI0017
Problem Code: Value 0000001C
Hardware ID's: PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3059&SUBSYS_BO121462&REV_60

It is an ACPI x86 based PC, has an intel (r) celeron processor.

Open the case & get the model number off the motherboard or the model number of the audio chip.

So you have the VIA Vinyl audio. There are no windows 7 drivers, so you will have to install the vista ones.
