Comment:

i built my pc a few months ago and everything worked fine. it reconized my 256mb memory, the 160gb HDD, and my optical drives. the cpu clock frequency was wrong so it only showed like 2.20ghz. after figuring it out, i changed the jumper and it was up to speed now. at the same time, i installed the latest bios on the soyo website. since then, it has showed i have half my memory. i have read alot that talk about high/low density. but, it showed it al before i updated. can some one help me?

my computer is: Motherboard- Soyo P4VTE, Ram-Kingston ValueRam 256mb 333mhz, Cpu-Celeron 2.3ghz, Video Card- Geforce MX4000

How does changing a jumper increase the CPU speed a mere 100MHz? The 2.3GHz Celeron runs at 23 x 100, if you change the FSB jumpers, the speed would increase to either 3.06GHz (23 x 133) or 4.6GHz (23 x 200).

"i installed the latest bios on the soyo website. since then, it has showed i have half my memory"

After the BIOS update, did you reconfigure all your BIOS settings? Where are you getting the info saying you now only have 128MB? Try running CPUZ & see what it tells you.

Definitely not a gamer...LOL

If Jam's suggestions do not help, you might want to reinstall your old Bios code. Updates are not always perfect.

the cpu clock setting was at 100m when i got it. it is supposed to be 133m for my 533fsb. yes i reconfigured the settings. my whole reason for updating was to get support for my 160gb hdd. first of all, during start up, it counts the ram up to 13??????k. in windows, i right click on my computer and it shows 128mb. who said i was a gamer or played alot of games? the only game i play is san andreas.

Just a comment on your configuration...Celeron/256MB/MX4000

"the cpu clock setting was at 100m when i got it. it is supposed to be 133m for my 533fsb"

OK, that makes more sense...

It's generally not a good idea to download the latest BIOS update just to be up to date. Only download an update if the update has a new feature that you need.

I believe in the Big Bang. God said it, and BANG it happened!

i wish it was a gameing machine. it was just cheap and working. the bios shows 131072kb. it also beeps twice during post. it says online that 2 beeps is memory problems. but i think it has always beeped even when it counted all the ram. it beeps, pauses, then beeps once more. any suggestions? should i buy more ram and test it to see if my stick is messed up, or should i send it to be flashed?
