Looking for a graphic card mid-range 8xAGP. I have a KT600A motherboard. Athlon xp 2000 processor 266 clock speed. 1 gig of ddr 2100. Sata 150 200 gig hard drive. 500 watt power supply smart power by Antec. Antec Supper Lan boy case. (I plan on buying new motherboard and processor in the next few years.) I'm looking just for something to tide me over untill then.

I really like the 6600 gt 128 mb. I'm looking for somthing comparible or better for less than $150. Any gammers out there that can help me out. I read so many comparison tables and i'm still dumb founded.

I've heard the 9550 256 mb card is a good card. Debated on getting that card too.

Would you pick the 9550 256mb over a 9800 se or pro 128 mb card? The whole clock core, memory clock, and pipe lines thing over whelms me. I guess what I am trying to say is which is the most import to look for in a video card the clock core, memory clock, pipe lines ,type of memory, amount of memory ,or a spec I didn't mention.

Depending on what you use it for for gaming i would go with the 9800 pro for sure, but if money isnt an object a 6600 / gt would be better

the 9550 is an underclocked 9600. You'll need a good power supply for either the 9800Pro or 6600GT...if you don't have one, I suggest the 9600XT

The 9550 isn't really a mid-range card. It was meant to be entry level when it was introduced a couple years ago. So I guess now it would be an uber low end card. :P

A midrange would be a 6600GT or 6800GS. Or, on the ATI side, x800GTO, x800XL, or X1600.

I'm not sure if the x800GTO comes in AGP, but the XL and the X1600 do.

Remember that we're talking abut an AXP 2000+ @ 266FSB w/PC2100 RAM...there's no point in going too crazy with a video card, especially if the PSU is weak.

Woops, didn't even read his specs. I just read his title and jumped down to all of his replies. :P

Yeah, 9600XT or 9700 Pro is more like it for an AMD 2000.

It's an Antec smartpower 500 watt power supply. Maybe a bit out dated to the newer series power supplys but, i don't think it is weak.

If i buy a 9600 xt or 9700 graphic card. Should i buy a 128 mb card or 256 card. I've read that some people think 256 mb card is an over kill and some people think 256 mb card is the only way to go. Whats your opinion.

I want a card for gaming. Castle Wolfinstien, medal of honor, and games like that.

128mb vs 256mb really depends on the price difference..if they're not more than $10 apart you might as well spring for the 256, otherwise 128mb will do you fine
