Last year my microphone wouldn't work on my computer. A friend came over, did something to the computer and it worked. Well, just a few weeks ago I performed a System Recovery on my computer and now it's not working again. I put both of the sound drivers from Gateway back on the computer to get the sound to work, but I have no playback at all.

If anyone could help me fix this problem, I'd appreciate it.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. Uninstall the audio driver restart the system and then reinstall it.this should help.

Can u give me the details of ur system. Go to add or remove programs in the control panel .u should be able to see the audio driver listed there. My driver is realtec .if u cant find out what ur driver is then can u take a screenshot of the entire page and post it here.may be guys here would be able to find it.also make sure u have the audio driver source.it is probably in a cd given by your manufacturer. Is the problem only with ur microphones or all external speakers

My speakers work, but my computer doesn't pick up any of the mics that I use.

Anyway, I have Realtec High Definition Audio Driver.

I did. I wiped it off my computer and reinstalled it.

I got on Ventrilo to talk to friends and they said all they hear is static.

I'm lost as to what to do now.
