hi all

i have a motherboard that has a microfit atx power connection on it (it's not old).

pin for pin, it is the exact same as a regular atx power connection, except that it is smaller!

here's a picture of the microfit atx connector on a powerseupply (not mine)

http://www.nb.nu/power%20atx24.jpg

unfortuneately, these powersupplies are pricey, and rather than get a weak one like that, i want to use my normal atx power supply with this motherboard that has a microfit atx power connector on it.

help!

thanks

spencer

You evidently have a 24 pin ATX power connector. What you showed is a 20 pin ATX power connector. If your MBoard has a 20 pin connection then you can try two things. First of all look at your existing connector carefully. You may be able to separate the last 4 pins. This will create a 20 pin plus a 4 pin. Just use the 20 pin. If that isn't the case then there may be adapters available.

Where did you come up with the term microfit connector? I have never heard that term.

Lastly, 20 pin ATX power supplies are available and cost no more than a 24 pin PSU of similiar quality. I do think your connector might separate though. Just look for a seam at that point.

The word should be spelled Micro-Fit.

I have seen 20 pin to 24 pin adapters on Ebay for under $10.00 including shipping. They probably have the 24 to 20 as well.

I think OtheHill, is correct, I had the same problem after buying a new psu.

The last four pins, are on a separate plug, separate it, by sliding it up.

Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.

the 24 pin connector is the one that i have. the 20 pi9n connector is just schown for a size comparison reasons.

i don't need 20 to 24 pin or whatever. i need 24 pin atx to 24 pin micro-fit (thanks oldslowpoke!) connector

-----

update: i found this on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.ca/NEW-HP-PAVILION-...

this will do just fine. i can just put the motherboard in here and be done with it!

which rases another question, i'll post elsewhere.

thanks all!

Dear All

out of interest, has anyone located a 24 pin regular to 24 pin microfit adapter that Platinum required for connection.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

thanks mike newcomb.

you know, getting the microfit adapter would be easier for me. instead of using this proprietary motherboard i could use a k8nf4g which has a pci express graphics slot. this itx board here only has one pci <_<

also, i'd be able to use a normal powersupply and whatever case i want. so if someone has this type of converter or finds where i can get one, let me know!
