Hi
Just got a mic to connect to my creative 5.1 live sound card but can not get it to work with my 5.1 speakers. If I switch to headphone mode then it works.

A lot surround sound systems use the mic input as a dual purpose socket. In head phone mode it operates as a mike input. In surround sound sound mode it is used for one of the other speakers, usually the rear speakers or possubly the sub-woofer.
You sound card set-up application should tell you if this is the case.
