I have accidentally installed my PC100 Ram backwards. I put it in huriedly cause I was excited and the slot in the ram was on the opposite side and most all of the pins connected and the white tabs almost locked down on the sides of the ram, anyways when I started the computer I got one beep and it shut down. so I checked the ram and the little white sticker on the chips had melted off and the ram itself was very hot. I am wondering if this damaged my MOBO? I luckily got them to give me a refund and bought another stick at bestbuy.com, but I am scared to try to use that ram slot again. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx in advance :-)

Well you most have pressed pretty damn hard to even get the chip to seat at all. They only go in one way, have for a long time. The only way to find out if things are going to work again is to insert memory into the slot and see what happens. I've never run across the problem before because as I stated, it is very hard to insert memory in the wrong way. Did you harm anything? Who knows.
