Try using MS Intellimouse drivers. They are really good.

If the mouse is old and stops scrolling or is jerky, often it is dirty inside, on the rollers etc.

This is more often the cause of mouse problems, (the next is cable failure where it joins the mouse) than drivers.

Best to dismantle with the pc OFF and carefully clean.

A new mouse is cheap anyway.

Good luck - keep us posted.
