OK I have 1.5 gigs of ram and when i play battlefield 2 and I monitor ram usage it peaks out at around 580 mb. so why is it using 800 mb of pagefile? shouldnt it just use the system ram?

yes, but it doesn't. We are in a wasteful period here in terms of memory usage, mostly thanks to micro soft. Not like in my day.

Windows isn't very good with memory management. Turn off your page file/virtual ram if you want.

I don't now why the page file is 800mb. But I suspect that if you monitor page file usage you will see that it's very low or nil. That's the important fact.
