I am thinking of getting a memory upgrade or two for my system, but I am told that if I put two different types of memory in my system there could be a problem.

I have an ASUS P4P800 Motherboard with two 256Mb Transcend 184 pin DDR400 DIMM Modules with a CAS latency of 3-3-3.

If I put two 256Mb Transcend 184 pin DDR400 DIMM with CAS latency of 2.5 or one 512Mb Transcend 184 pin DDR400 DIMM with CAS latency of 2.5 will the difference in Mb or latency cause problems?

It might or it might not, its best to use the same brand, size, speed and latency, tbh what is it you need 1gb for? video editing, CAD?

Visit www.crucial.com and use their site to tell you exactly what ram is compatible with your board. It is best not to mix different types.

Crucial website can tell me what type can be put in my system but I already know that. I built this system myself so I know the specs. What I need to know is whether or not RAM modules that are IDENTICAL except for cas latency and capacity will conflict with each other. The reason for the upgrade is gaming.
