I wanted to test the ram and so I did with a little programm called: ram Test.exe
There is allways a error message so I am not to sure what to do about this...
So I searched for another test programm and found :MemTest-86 v3.2
Can anyone explain to me how to install this and how to test with it?
A reply is very much appreciated.

You have to install it on a floppy disk and then boot from it. - I think

Hope this helps

Sure, you need to boot with it - rtfm

Run the .exe files which will create a bootable floppy. Then reboot, enter in BIOS and set "floppy" as primary boot device. Save changes, insert floppy and let the test run.

Thanks
The question is : How do I install It?

And if I get to run it , Does a message come if the ram is ok or just if it has an error?

Thank you guys!
you where faster as I could reply!
If I double clicked on the "rawrite.exe" there was nothing happening!
I have then tried to install with "install.bat" on to the floppy and that seemed to work. Then I restarted the computer-set to reboot in A; It did run some test-but no messages nor anything. Does that mean it is all ok?

And here I am back-after visiting the link above
The floppy seems to be as mentioned on the link page"unformatted"
It mentions there about " A help bar is displayed at the bottom of the screen listing the available on-line commands"
I have not seen any such thing when I did run the test either?
I musst be slow and not quite on to it?
Can someone explain for a slow participant?!

Thanks

I'm not sure how things work in Win2K, but you would extract the files from the ZIP archive and then run the install bat - you need a DOS formatted floppy disk. You should see:

Enter target diskette drive: a:
Please insert a formatted diskette into drive A: and press -ENTER- :
Done!
To run Memtest86, leave the floppy in the drive and reboot.

When it's done, you won't see anything on the floppy (but it'll have less free space) - it doesn't use DOS recognizable files

Boot with that diskette and see what it reports

Download the Windows/DOS version, unzip, double click on INSTALL.BAT, follow the instructions & pop in a formatted floppy. The program will be copied to the disk & it'll be made bootable. Then just boot off the floppy & let it run for at least one series of tests...depending on your system, it may take 20-30 min. Most people let it run for a couple of hours, some let it run overnite. If you get any errors at all, the RAM is probably bad...if not, you can be reasonably sure that the RAM is good
