Can anyone help?

I have a pc running XP Pro which started to error due to a rogue memory stick. The stick in question is a Samsung 256MB 1Rx8 PC2-3200U-333-10-A1 I have replaced with a stick Samsung 1Rx16 PC2-3200U-333-10-C1 which won't work.
Looking through other posts and websites it seems to be the PC2-3200U which is the crucial factor when ordering memory sticks but the stick definately won't work. I have removed all the other sticks and tried this one on it's own but it still won't work.
Is the 1Rx8 & 1Rx16 something to do with it?

DELL's can be fickle, buy the memory from:

http://www.crucial.com

They have an on-line tool to determine the correct memory (density, CAS, voltage etcetcetc) and gaurantee compatibility.
