On the Dell E520, it has 4 memory sockets...two are paired together it looks like on the same channel. When I add additonal memory (Right now it only has one memory module in the one slot)should i put it in the paired slot or the other slot for better performance or does it really not matter? thanks

My question is does it matter what slot to put the additonal memory in? two slots are paired along with another two that are paired. Should i add it to the pair that doesn't have any memory or just add it to the pair that already has memory in it???

Too lazy to look up the info in the owner manual? Open it and turn to page 70. Manual misplaced? Load it HERE.

Okay, just to verify XPuser...it came with a stick of 512mb in dimm 1. I purchased another stick of 512mb so i would pair it together in stick it in dimm 3. dimm 1 and 3 are pairs along with dimm 2 and 4.

Doesn't matter if you insert that into a slot that the other slot there's no memory inserted. The important there is you have the memory in order your PC will run in good condition.

Hey SHENGTON, stick to answering questions about stuff you know...whatever that may be?

uncommon21,

Your board supports dual channel mode. If you wanna take advantage of it, install your RAM in DIMM-1 & DIMM-2. And if you look at the manual supplied by XpUser, you'll see that DIMMs 1 & 2 are NOT next to each other.
