Is this a program that is automatically claiming that its scanning your memory when your computer boots up into Windows? That is most likely a virus and I would suggest posting in the Security and Virus section.

If its right when you turn your computer on (and it runs an initial scan of memory, quickly) BEFORE you boot into Windows, that's a different story and would likely be related to a hardware issue. Start with only using 1 stick of RAM (and if that doesn't work, use the other stick) to see if it will boot. I would think if hardware was the case though, you wouldn't be able to boot to a Windows CD.

Are you able to get into Windows at all? And if not, can you please provide the make/model of your workstation? Thanks for additional clarification.

Yeah, if possible post back what process is doing the scan. Or, if you don't know, what is the last thing that shows on the screen before the scan starts?

Have you tried CTRL-ALT-DEL to stop it?
