Memory Questions

I've got a few questions on memory:
When a manufacturer lists a module as 64Mx64 or 64Mx72 what does that mean? Is the extra 8 for ECC?
For home computing and 3D game use, is ECC necessary? Will I gain any advantage from ECC?
For home computing and 3D game use, is Registered memory necessary? Will I gain any advantage from Registered memory?
My motherboard lists x64/x72 for the DIMMS. Does this mean it will accept either 64Mx64 or 64Mx72?
I have a Gigabyte GA-7DX Rev 3.0 motherboard with a 200/266 MHz FSB running a 1.1 GHz Athlon.

With out getting technical... yes the extra 8 is for ECC.
And I don't think Ecc is necessary for gaming. And registard memory is also unnecessary for your system.

ecc memory con acctually slow down you standerd pc because it uses a parity bit to double check that the data in the memory is accurate and registered memory is unessary form the average home user it used mostly in higher end server not requiring ECC or in workstations that must have accurate timing etc.
