Reply: (edit)100 mhz. memory? How old is it and where did you get it from, an older computer? The 100 will cause a bottleneck and slow the data flow down to 100. My suggestion is to get rid of it. You may not notice it when doing low-resource tasks like word processing, spreadsheets, etc. Soon as you try to play some serious video games you will see the slowdown. For efficient performance, all bus's should run at the same clock: FSB, Processor and Memory all that the same clock. If only one is lower, that is what your system will run at. Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime; Then industry pollutes the water and kills all the fish.

yet the sticker on the 128 says 133mhz thats why i purchased the 256mb 133mhz a year ago.but everest reports it as 128 mb 100 mhz.this is why im confused. ill take out the 128 see what happens.maybe i will buy a stick of 256mb 100 mhz if it means better performance on this machine. thanx alot, keltik Tech_Tv.

Reply: (edit)Some memory says it is pc133 and pc100 meaning that the memory is compatible with both pc133 and 100. Having mixed memory doesn't hurt anything but your system will always run at the slower speed. (although some os are pickier about mixed memory than others)When I had windows ME (a terrible operating system) I ran pc100 and 133 memory with no problem. But when I swithed to windows xp home the system started to become unstable so I now only run pc133. Hopefully this answers your question. Jonathan

Reply: (edit)hi mohaa, thanx for the reply,i ve takin out the 100mhz and im running the 256 133 mhz so far so good,no noticable diffrences in speed.ill wait and see when my computer has been left on for a few days and see what happens.had memory problems with xp memory, usage grows while doing minimal tasks and doesnt reduce when apps are closed.maybe it was the 2 diffrent memory sticks, not really sure ill see in a few days. keltik Tech_Tv.
