I was looking to upgrading my RAM to 1gb. I found an awesome deal on 200 pin 1GB DDR2 PC2-4200 200-Pin SODIMM my computer is currently running 200 pin 512MB DDR PC 2700. Can I use the faster ram even though i know it will only run at 333Mhz?

The RAM manufacturer may have a configurator for your computer. If their RAM is not listed for your DELL X300 you are taking a financial risk trying this.

Your X300 uses DDR, not DDR2. Both RAM types have 200-pins, but the notch is in a different location on each so that you can't use the wrong type. Also the voltage requirements for DDR2 are much lower
