CPU/Ram: 2.6ghz 256 mhz

Comment:

A friend of mine has a pc made by Packard Bell and currently has 256mb PC133 168 pin SDRAM DIMM in it. I have 1gb of spare PC2100 DDR 266mhz…. is it compatible? Can we change his memory for mine?

Your help would be much appreciated.

Have your friend go to Crucial.com and run thier memory configurator. This will tell him how much total, what capacity, density and speed the modules can be. Density can be an issue even is the capacity looks OK. Density is basically less chips of more capacity for each chip on the module. If the controller can't handle the chip capacity then it won't run in that computer even if the total size is OK.

PC133 has 168-pins, PC2100 has 184-pins...they cannot be interchanged
