Medion RAM Notch placements

Specs: Windows 8
Hoping someone can answer what might be a stupid question!

I recently purchased 2 x4gb RAM ( for my Medion Akoya e6239

However upon installing it appears that the notch placements in my laptop are on different sides. One is on the left, one on the right. Both the RAM I have purchased have notches on the left so it will only allow me to install one of them.

Is this normal? Can you purchase RAM with notches on different sides?

Are the sticks identical? Perhaps they sent you the wrong RAM. I'm not familiar with that system, but if it has two banks, are they both configured the same? Perhaps you have to turn the stick over to install it in the second bank?

Uh, did you try turning them around so that the notch is on the opposite side?

From the manual it seems there is already 1 stick of 4GB installed?

I assume the 2 RAM sticks are mounted face-to-face or back-to-back explaining the notch on different sides of the recipient connectors

Both sticks of RAM are identical. The notches are on the left when showing the sticker at the top.

The laptop originally had 1 x 2gb of RAM installed which had a notch to the left. I have removed this.

The first replacement RAM was 4gb and had a left notch. This went in ok and laptop worked fine.

The second 4gb also had a left notch but the space in the laptop has a right notch. I turned the RAM upside down but then the laptop would turn not on while booting. I removed and the laptop booted again.

At the moment I have 4gb working and a 4gb still to install.

Should RAM be turned upside down? Or should I have a RAM stick with a right hand side notch?
