I just bought a toshiba M50-YK4 laptop from future shop. It was already opened (sumone had bought it previously and returned it). Also attached to it was a repair invoice.

Thats just a little brief history, now ill get to the point. Whenever I boot up the computer, i usually get this screen after the toshiba logo goes away. It says "Pre-Boot eXecution environment (PXE) v2.1 Copyright..........."
I thought that was normal but then it stays there for a little while then two more lines appear underneath it that say Media Test Failure, Check Cable. Exiting PXE ROM"
After that, windows boots up normally.

Im not sure exactly how long its been doing that BUT it may have started when i took out the computer battery and put it back in(when the comp was off of course). It possibly could have been occuring before this but i never noticed it if it was.

Everything seems to me working okay accept for my clock. I had to set it GMT -08:00 to display the correct time when all my other computers are set to GMT -05:00 to display the correct time. Also my curser tends to have a mind of its own when im typing.

Should I return this computer to futureshop? Is this a problem i should be worried about?

LOL any other suggestions? I was under the impression tha toshiba makes good quality computers. This makes me question their credibility.

The issue is not Toshiba it just happened that you bought yourself a lemon.

In any event it's your toy. Return it or be prepared for what i believe will be your long, unhappy experience with this lemon. Good luck.

Lol i have 2 weeks to decide what i want to do before warranty with futureshop is up so hopefully i make the right descision that wont make me hang myself in the future. The only thing holding me back from returning it was the fact i got it got a 100 dollar discount because it was refurbished.

I ended up fixing the problem tho. I just went to the toshiba webside and downloaded a BIOS driver and i do not see that message anymore.
