Comment: Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum. A friend of mine brought his pc with a NO DISPLAY problem. We can access the HD information on other pc's. But the problem of no display persists. Been troubleshooting or the past 2 weeks now. Helpless!!! Systems Development South Africa

Reply: (edit)You have given no useful information to assist in diagnosing the problem. There have been dozens (if not hundreds) of previous posts regarding No Display as the subject. Have you read any of them for possible troubleshooting methods? Without full information on your system specifications, and what troubleshooting steps you have taken in the last 2 weeks, any response here would be guesswork. Goin' Fishin' (Some day)

Reply: (edit)Thanks for replying. Yes, i have read most of the posts on No Display. However, it still did not help much. This was the list of things i did: Changed RAM, VGA, PSU, processors, HDD and Motherboard. And what it still does is the following: PSU fan goes on. The Monitor goes on but after 2-3 seconds it goes to standby. Also, there is nothing wrong with the OS cause it boots fine from any other pc (When changing the HD). PC Specs: RAM-256 MB (Hynix) Motherboard-Gigabyte HD-80GB Baracudda (7200) VGA Card-GeForce 6800 (Biostar) Hope this is helpful. Thanks again Systems Development South Africa

Reply: (edit)Are you swapping hard drives from one computer to another? Describe what you mean by "no display". When first starting up the computer do you then see the startup screens? If the graphics integrated or an add-in card? Do you have the monitor connected to the correct graphics port?

Reply: (edit)Are you swapping hard drives from one computer to another? (YES. To test whether the OS was not the problem) Describe what you mean by "no display". (Nothing comes up on the monitor. No POST nor Any start-up screens) When first starting up the computer do you then see the startup screens? (No. Nothing goes on. No POST or Startup screen. Nothing) If the graphics integrated or an add-in card? (Has both, but does not work) Do you have the monitor connected to the correct graphics port? (Yes, but neither of them are currently working. We acquired an add-in Graphics Card cause we thought the on-board (integrated) Graphics card was dead.) Thanks again Systems Development South Africa

Reply: (edit)Did you buy all those swapped parts? You don't need a hard drive connected at all to get an initial post. If you remove the RAM you should get an error code. If you are swapping out a PSU it may not be strong enough to do the job.

Reply: (edit)a) Have you tried the monitor on a different pc? If so, does it work ok? b) is the monitor's power lead connected to the base unit? If so, try connecting to a normal/wall power socket. Good Luck - Keep us posted.

Reply: (edit)If a replacement motherboard, cpu, ram, gpu and psu aren't making it post, check that you have the standoffs correctly installed in the case according to the motherboard type. Or just connect it all up outside of the case and lightly tap the power on pins with a screwdriver. Try using onboard video at first if you are doing this though.

Reply: (edit)Hi Guys. I know it sounds weird. But I've tried all of the above but no good news. My monitor is working fine so its not it. The on-board video does not do anything. Yes, if remove the RAM i get the short-single error beeps. My guess (wild) was that the PSU is faulty (in some way). But i cant think what. But the MB does get power. I hav cleaned the box with canned pressure too. But still nothing. From Helpless!!! to Hopeless on this matter. Thanks again for your input. Systems Development South Africa
