MB of Ram Problem

Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, 1.808 GHz / 511 MB
Our pc was just 256 MB of Ram...when my mom bought a 512 MB of Ram stick something something...it worked and our pc got to 768 mb of Ram...but then after 1 year...our pc got to 512 MB of Ram....I dunno...I have checked if it is inserted....it is...I dunno what is the problem...-_-....I cant play L4D...(not version 2...)

Remove the 256mb ram stick, if it still says 512mb, then that stick is dead.

If the RAM worked for a year then I suggest you unplug the computer and remove and replace all the RAM sticks 4 or 5 times. Place them in the same slots they currently occupy.

Take care with static discharge. Ground yourself before touching anything inside the case.

If that doesn't help then download and run memtest86 to determine if there is a problem with your memory.
