Hi all,

just installled the asus a7n8x delux m/b on a new case... I attached everything the way the manual says... the problem i encounter is that everytime i turn it on (press the power button on the case), the fans turn on and after about 2-3 seconds they will turn off. There is no display on the monitor. I tried changing the fsb jumper on the m/b from the default 333/266 to 200 but that doesn't seem to be the problem. I have the athlon xp 2400. A friend of mine suggested that the cpu might be damaged. I'm not sure if that's the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check the button on the front of the case. It may be sticking when you press it.

Good advice, but its not stuck. You also gave me an idea: i disconnected the reset switch connector but the problem continues.

Thanks for the help.

Disconnect all the drives and pull all the cards except the video card and try it.

Thanks bert, I just tried that but doesn't seem to do it. I also removed all the connectors except for the power switch, speaker and power led.

I was reading the user's manual and it says that this m/b comes with CPU overheating protection (COP). COP is supposed to turn off the power if the cpu temperature exceeds a set criteria. I have no idea what this criteria is. Do you think this could be the problem? How do i test if this is what's causing the problem? The cpu fan is running fine. Do you think I should put an external fan blowing into the m/b?

Hi guys, I found out from another friend that my heatsink was not installed right... I figured the oem had installed it correctly. Anyway, now it's working fine w/ blazing speed! I was able to burn a cd in 2.24 minutes :)

Thanks for trying to help... its good to know there are ppl out there willing to help.
