Subject: MB doesn't detect all 4GB of RAM
OS: Vista 64
CPU/Ram: Athlon FX-60/4.0GB
Model/Manufacturer: Homebuilt
Comment:

I have just upgraded my memory to 4GB, and my motherboard isn't detecting all of it. Both the BIOS and Windows only report 3119MB of memory. In fact, CPU-Z is the only program that detects the full 4GB. My motherboard does support 4GB of memory.

System information:
CPU: Athlon 64 FX-60 Dual-Core Processor, overclocked to 3.0GHz
MB: Asus Socket 939 A8R-MVP
RAM: 4GB (4x1024) OCZ EL Platinum 2-3-2-5 Dual Channel PC3200
OS: 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium.

Any guesses?

Enabling the memory remapping feature in the BIOS actually makes it worse--it then only recognizes 2GB!

It is not an OS issue, because both the BIOS and Memtest86 detect only 3119MB. I have already tested each module individually, and found no problems.

Try each memory stick alone to make sure the bios recognizes it fully.
