Anyone having problems wit maxtor sata drives?
My drive is only month or so old and am having mega problems wit it. Ran powermax and it said drive was junk. Ran again and it said drive was fixed. Having all kinds of problems now. Don't
know if virus or hard drive. Only happened tonight after punched computer, (started making horrible grinding noise). Fixed grinding noise, (loose fan) But now got weird problem with apps. Getting that encountered problem bs when starting some apps and some
computer management snapins are gone. Clik on services and says snapin failed to initilize.
works sometimes though. Weird. Could hard drive be cause?intel D925XCV

When you say "drive was junk"..what do you mean? When you encounter problems..what do you mean exactly? BSOD (Blue Screen of Death)?
"Snap ins are gone"..what does that mean?
I have an 80GB Maxtor DiamondMax drive and I haven't had any problems with it. Since you noted that the drive itself wasn't making the grinding sound, I would not think that the drive is physically failing.
Have you checked your PC for viruses?
Have you checked for spyware etc? You may want to check your drive cables also because that can cause the problems that I think you are describing.Sempron 2400+ OCed to 2.2GHZ

I have several Maxtor Drives and they are all still performing well.
I had only one go bad .... after I dropped on a hard surface. Staples gave me a free replacement even though it was 4 months old.

Well, I did find a nasty new trojan, was
born in 05, a real bad one. Cause of HDD failure was stupid power company, they can't keep the power on. Had power failure in middle of heavy use, now Hdd has click o death. Ran
power max again, said drive was junk. It gave me ra# to get new drive.

Yes..a UPS is in order! Also you may want to
consider a power conditioner as it will help to give consistent power throughtout your lines and prevent spikes and surges that will
destroy a drive.Sempron 2400+ OCed to 2.15GHZ
