i have a dell dimension 2400 desktop here which is holding only 512mb ram at the moment. but this is confusing, on the manual it says this system can take 2gb ram total but it says.........
Memory connectors two Memory capacities 128-, 256-, or 512-MB and then it says..... Maximum memory 2gb Memory type PC2100 (266-MHz) or PC2700 (333-MHz) DDR SDRAM (non-ECC) so the part i'm stuck with is ? can i install 2x 1gb ram modules in this or am i only able to use 2x 512 ram modules. thanks for any help

You should be able to use 2x 1GB DDR PC2700. A cool tool you can use to verify on your own is... Go to Crucial.com and click "Scan My System", put a check in the box and click "download the scanner". it will show you how many memroy slots your MB has and how much each one can take and system total. You can also buy it directly from the site after the scan is complete, if you'd like.
