What is the maximum FSB for an Aopen mx3wpro-e motherboard? I want ot buy a new p3 CPU ofr it, but i wont be happy unless i can get at least 2GHz from it. Can you recomend what CPU i get? The p3 im using in the board right now is a 1GHz CPU, running at 1.2GHz.
Thanx in advance.
My Rig:
1040Mhz Pentium 3 OC'd at 1.2Ghz
Aopen MX3WPRO-E mobo
Intel 810 chipset
Onboard Graphics Not sure how many MB
128mb RAM
120GB Maxtor Hard DriveMy Old Rig:
AMD K6 400Mhz

Hmmm... 133Mhz. I'm assuming the only thing you can do to get more speed out of the CPU at this point is increasing voltage. But it's limited to a FSB of 133Mhz, I think (I'm reading this information off that link in response 2). This table goes to 1.2Ghz, but I don't think that's the maximum speed supported for the CPU.

I told you in your other post...the max FSB you're gonna hit & still remain stable will be 150MHz, but only if your PC133 RAM is capable of running at that speed. Somewhere between 140-145MHz is more realistic, unless you wanna waste your money on PC150 RAM just to gain an extra 5-10MHz FSB.
The Intel 810 is a weak "value" chipset. Your board doesn't even have an AGP slot...you're never gonna make a decent gamer out of it if that's your intention

Did i even mention anything about making it a gaming machine? No.

OK, are you O/C'ing simply for the sake of O/C'ing then? Or do you wanna O/C to 2.0GHz so that you can surf the internet faster? LOL! Doubling the speed of your CPU from 1.0GHz to 2.0GHz is totally unrealistic.
I have no idea what a "1040Mhz Pentium 3 OC'd at 1.2Ghz" is...my guess is you have a 1.0GHz, which can be either 100FSB or 133FSB version. If it's the 100FSB version, you'd have the FSB at 120MHz, & if you don't have a PCI lock, you risk problems with PCI cards & data corruption on your drive(s) because the PCI bus is too far outta spec (40MHz).
If you have the 133FSB version, you'd have to have the FSB set at 160MHz, which is unlikely. At 160FSB, the PCI would still run at 40MHz, but your PC133 RAM wouldn't be able to handle it. And if your running your CPU at one bus speeed & RAM at another, you're losing performance...the CPU O/C is negated by the RAM which can't keep up with it.
