i have 2 hdd's sharing the master channel and a dvd rom drive and a cd-rw drive sharing the secondary channel. is it better all the way around to have 1 hdd and 1 optical drive on each ribbon? and what, if any, is the bad side to doing it like that. and what order should i have them as?

Reply:

Primary Master.........System drive
Primary Slave.............DVD-ROM
Secondary Master.....CD/RW
Secondary Slave........BackUp drive.

Setting it up a above will greatly enhance data transfer speeds and also help avoid data corruption.
