|What country are you in ? |
Please tell me / us what language you understand best when you read it.
I could translate what I write if I knew that.
Do you understand some English when you read it, or very little of it ?
Are you using XP or 2000 on the PCG-Z600HEK ??
Sony has all the drivers you need for this model, PCG Z600HEK, except for the ATI Rage Mobility-M1 drivers (see below) .
NOTE that I found that you have TWO model numbers with at least some old Sony laptops - the other model number, if it is different, is shown in the bios Setup of the computer. If you have that, search the Sony web site with THAT model number, and you MAY find the right ATI Rage Mobility-M1 drivers.
AMD / ATI does not have the drivers for the ATI Rage Mobility-M1 Display available , and they never did, because laptop makers have to at least modify the monitor drivers that come with the laptop video drivers to suit the laptop's display size and proportions, so the Sony specific video drivers are always included with the system, and in most cases you could download them from the Sony web sites too, BUT sometimes the right video drivers are lost track of by Sony for old models.
If you were to load generic ATI Rage Mobility-M1 drivers, the display is likely to not look right or not fill the screen right.
E.g. On the USA Sony web site, I searched using: ATI Rage Mobility-M1 driver - lots of "hits" :
But - the display on your monitor may not suit size of monitor properly if you choose the wrong ones.
There is a PCI and an AGP version of the ATI Rage Mobility-M1 video adapter.
You must use the drivers version for what is built into the mboard (see the specs below).
The Sony Europe site - in English
On the right, click on Models sold before 2006
Select model - the first part of the model numbers are NOT in alphabetical order.
Scroll down to PCG-Z600HEK

Downloads - Use the Updated drivers for Win 2000 - if you're using XP, they will probably work for XP too.
All drivers are there except for the ATI Rage Mobility-M1 video drivers.
The CD drives used on older laptops may or may not work with the generic IDE or other CD drive drivers built into Win 98 and up.
You must install the Sony Notebook Controller Setup, and the Sony Programmable I/O control.
NOTE that I know from experience with another old Sony laptop that those would install in 2000 , but they would not install in Win 98SE - the computer originally had ME or 2000 on it - I had to find versions for other Sony laptops that would install in 98SE.
Main chipset - 440ZX - Windows 2000 and up probably already has the main chipset drivers for that built in.
USB controller drivers - drivers are built into Win 98 and up
