Solved Make Sony Vaio laptop accept non-genuine replacement battery

July 22, 2013 at 12:23:07
Specs: Windows 7
I have a Sony Vaio Laptop VPCEA1S1E which has started to show the following caution message.

'The installed battery may not be properly connected to the computer or may not be compatible with the computer.

Click "OK" to enter Hibernate mod, and reinsert the battery.

See the electronic VAIO(R) User Guide for more information about using the battery.'

I have had the laptop for about 3 years.

I contacted the Sony helpline and the said the battery was past it's best. A new battery from Sony costs £149:00. I thought this a little steep so found a battery on the internet for £40:00. Great I thought.

The caution message is still showing when I install the new battery.

Is there a way of getting my laptop to accept a none Sony battery.

Many thanks in anticipation for your assistance.

If the battery is sold as a replacement battery for your Sony and it is not accepted by the machine, contact the source or manufacturer of the battery for advice since if you cannot get it to work properly, you would have a history with their tech support so you can return it for replacement or refund.

It seams you have been inserting the battery when the machine is in hibernate which is definitely not recommended, it should be off.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
