Make old power supply w/ 12v square

I have a lot of older 300w PS's lying around and I need one that has the new 12v ATX square pin.
Has anyone tried taking 2 flat connectors, removing the +12v (yellow wires) from each and a common from each and rigging them to connect to the new connection?
