Machine will not stay powered on

Specs: Windows Vista Basic Sp2, Dual AMD 8800/2G
I have a custom machine, but it was assembled by a small computer company. My machine simply will not stay powered on. It usually turns off within a second after I power it up but on different occasions it made it all the way to windows and stayed on for hours. In these instances, I was able to run programs and the computer seemed to be fine only to turn off hours later after I had left the room. It is under warranty, but I have been having trouble coordinating with the manufacturing company as they are small and not local for me. I want to find a cheap first-person solution so I won't have to ship the machine across the country to get it fixed? Any ideas? Please and thank you

If it's fairly new, you can probably rule out dust collection which would cause overheating. It wouldn't hurt to unplug it and open the case to see if all the fans are running and not blocked with dust. My second guess would be a failing power supply. Often times builders will use a cheap power supply to keep costs down.
