I bought a computer 1-2 years ago that came with a v.90 Lucent Win Modem (Cheetah). Anyways, is there any way to upgrade it to v.92 (I heard that v.90 modems could be upgraded to v.92, but I haven't found a driver to do the job yet for a Lucent Win Modem).

It's not a driver that you need. It's a firmware update. Have you looked on the Lucent web site? If you cant find the update, a new v.92 modem goes for about $10 on ebay.

I've been using my Lucent WinModem for 3 years now and it works very good .I've been told to ditch to WinModem because it uses up the processor, degrades performance ? However I have no probs with it so "if it aint broke dont fix it" I have installed the lastest driver update ver8.22 , check what driver version you are using and the update ,before you decide to replace it ? Good Luck Nick

Anthony:Before you upgrade, you should check to see if your ISP provides V92 support. If so,then they also have different dial-in #'s for this protocol. That's the way it works with Juno anyway. V92 modem should work with a V90 ISP also.Mine did fine with the Juno V90 server, and finally Juno offered V92 support.
Summary: I have a HSP 56k PCI FAX MODEM and on the product box, it says "Upgradable to V.92". I would like to know how do I upgrade it to V.92. I searched for a recent driver and didn't find any. ...
