Specs: Windows xp
I have a Dell Dimension 3000 - Windows XP. Its been VERY slow lately but blamed it on the wireless network. Today after the logo, i get a bar on the low portion of the screen and a dark background. After the bar full, I get an error "LSASS.EXE unable to locate component. The application has fialed because MPR.dll was not found. I've tried to use the original disks that came with the computer but the system wont read it. I also pressed F12 several times to get a the diagnotic but I cannot find in the list only the ide drive. I am a computer beginner. So I need easy to follow directions. Thanks all.

I'd suspect a virus. Open command prompt in your user and run the command attrib.

To be sure
go back to c:\ and attrib lsass.exe /s for all instances.

If you see lsass.exe in any non windows place you have a virus brought in by a virus.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
