Hi could use more info: how do you have hdd set up, both in comp at once? which is the one with OS installed. Or do you have OS on both and trying one at a time?
Do a Ctrl/Alt/Delete and see what is all running. Any program that is or was running takes memory resources.

Checkout the site response #1 suggested for a detailed explanation of System Resources.

This can be caused by:
Running many days without rebooting.
Poorly written programs that don't release System Resources when exiting.
Just running too many programs at once.
