My computer has started giving me “low system resources” errors and lockups.
This began after I unsuccessfully tried to install a DVD burner. Thinking that I had corrupted my WIN98SE OS while installing software for the burner, I redid the C: drive using some old Ghost images. I continued to get the error. I was not getting this error when I ran the OS when these prior images were made and, except for the DVD burning software, Norton AV updates and WIN98 updates, no other software has been installed. When I remove everything in my System tray other than Explorer, I still run out of resources in a very short (4 minutes at idle!) time. I pulled everything off the IDE channels except for my HDD. I removed my network card. I unhooked all USB devices. I pulled my RAM and swapped sticks around and still get the same or similar behavior.
I’ve noticed that occasionally, the display is “quirky”. When the display comes back from hibernation, sometimes it will be rolling vertically or the message “out of range” will appear on the monitor.
Could a bad display adapter cause a “low system resource” issue?

How much HD space do you have left. Also you are useing 98se witch isnt exactly good a memory managment, your computer would do quite well with XP, if you would choose to upgrade, it would be a good thing.

I've thought about a WIN XP upgrade but will probably ride this OS out until WIN98SE loses its support. I have other computers that run WIN XP.
I resolved my problem last night. I got an error: "Could not find Ghost Start Agent 0x80080005". I had been using the Ghost 2003 since 9/03 and made several images without incident. I had overlooked REGISTERING the software though and this behavior is what you get if you don't! Once registered, the image works.
Thanks for your input above!
