Lost sound after restoring my hp to factory settings after getting a virus. I had sound via built in speakers prior to this. We even tried to use the disk but still no sound. How do I get this to work? I am using XP. Is there software I can download to restore the driver? Or do I have to go out and buy and uninstall the old sound card and install a new one?
I don't know if your hp is a desktop or a laptop. Here is the link for both. 'AC'97 Audio Codecs' (top) for a laptop or notebook and 'High Definition Audio Codecs' (bottom) for desktops.
